Can I use my own domain?
Want to use a personal domain like emilyandjack.com
for your wedding website? With Hey Wedding Day, you can connect your own domain in just a few steps — no tech experience needed.
Hey Wedding Day does not sell domains directly. You’ll need to purchase your domain separately through a domain provider such as GoDaddy, Namecheap or Google Domains.
1. Enter Your Domain
In your Settings, go to the Website URL section and select the Custom Domain option.
Type in your domain name (e.g. emilyandjack.com
) and continue. Make sure you've already purchased the domain from a provider like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.
2. Add the DNS Record
Add a CNAME record with these values.:
- Type:
CNAME
- Name:
@
orwww
(depending on your registrar) - Value:
custom-domains.heyweddingday.com
3. Click “Verify”
Once the record has been added, return to Hey Wedding Day and click the “I’ve done this, verify domain” button. We’ll check if the setup is correct and activate your custom domain.
Note: DNS changes usually apply within 1–2 hours, but they can sometimes take up to 24 hours depending on your registrar.
What Happens Next?
- Your wedding website will be live at your new domain (e.g.
https://emilyandjack.com
). - It will automatically be secured with HTTPS.
- Your original Hey Wedding Day URL (like
heyweddingday.com/emilyandjack
) will still work too. - Any new e-cards will be hosted at your new domain.
- Any existing e-cards will remain hosted at your old url.
