Hey Wedding Day

How do I only ask a specific group of guests a question?

Sometimes you might want to ask a question only to a specific group of guests. For example, you might only want to ask guests invited to your private reception what their meal choice is, or only ask children if they would like a kids meal.

There are two main ways to control who sees an RSVP question:

1. Linking a question to a private event

If you link a question to a wedding event that is marked as private, only guests who are invited to that event will see the question.

First, ensure your event is set as private by following the steps in our Private Events guide.

Once your event is private, any question that has its Regarding wedding event field set to that event will inherit its privacy settings.

2. Applying Guest Tags directly to a question

You can also apply Guest Tags directly to a question to control its visibility, independent of any wedding event.

In your RSVP question builder, use the Tags field to select the groups of guests who should see the question. If a question has tags applied, only guests with at least one of those tags will see it.

Example: Private Reception and Kids Meal

Let's say you have a party of guests: adult guests (tagged with "Reception") and children (tagged with "Reception" and "Kids").

  • Reception Meal choice: Link this question to your Reception event (which is private for guests with the "Reception" tag). All reception guests will see this question.
  • Kids Meal choice: Apply the "Kids" Guest Tag directly to this question. Now, only the children will be asked this question during their RSVP, while it remains hidden for the Adult Guest.
